NO_OP_

A game with no goal and no fail state, named after the instruction that does nothing.

The game

The screen is a field of 1s and 0s. Drag across neighbouring cells sharing the same digit to build a sled. Lift your finger and it clears. The cells above fall to fill the gap.

Dragging onto a digit that does not match is ignored, never punished. There is no timer, no move limit, and nothing to lose. Fingers are imprecise, and the game never treats that as a mistake.

Three ways to play

ENDLESS

minimum 2, never ends

A minimum sled of two, and it never moves. No ending, no score to chase. Somewhere to put your hands.

ASCENT

the minimum grows as you clear

Starts at three and climbs by one every forty cells. That is the entire difficulty system. At three you glance, at six you scan, at nine you plan a route before touching the screen.

DAILY

one board, one attempt

A single board seeded by the date, so everyone plays the identical one. Nothing refills, so it only shrinks. Clear as much of it as you can, in a couple of minutes.

Five themes

A board playing through all five themes

Light, dark, terminal green, amber and DOS blue. Each is exactly a background and an ink, and the selected sled is a straight inversion of whichever two you picked.

One recording, recoloured. Because the app never draws a third colour, a capture is a pure ramp between the two, and re-tinting that ramp gives the other four themes exactly.

How it is built

TWO COLOURS

Every theme is exactly a background and an ink. A selected cell is a straight inversion, square cornered and gapless, so a run merges into one solid shape. There is no third colour anywhere, including the icon.

NOTHING LEAVES THE DEVICE

No network calls, no analytics, no accounts, no ads. It works in airplane mode forever. The daily board is arithmetic that happens to agree across devices, not a server handing one out.

NO PRESSURE

No timers, no move limits, no interstitials. A run ending is never dressed as a failure. Nothing is lost by looking away: every mode resumes exactly where you left it.

IT SHOULD FEEL LIKE SOMETHING

A tick as each cell joins the sled, a heavier one when it clears, and nothing at all when a drag drifts. Haptics are the point, not the polish.

The daily card

Finishing a daily produces a picture of the board you left behind. Plain text, block characters, no emoji. A perfect clear is twelve rows of clean outline.
